Many of you may or may not know that The Compassion Fashion Project originally just started out as a blog to promote awareness and resources for domestic violence shelters.  Since our conception, I have received such support and positive feedback that we have expanded our mission and grown into a grass roots organization to empower women.  What and who we are is constantly evolving based on our readers, fans and supporters whom I thank dearly for enlightening me.  Not that we do not get negative feedback, but that is life and I make a conscious decision to listen, however I will not be swayed from my vision.

It honestly makes me think more about who I am and why I started this project in the first place.  I never want to get away from my original intent, which is to encourage our readers to do something for someone else.  Finding creative ways to empower others will come back to you like a boomerang...and ten fold.  

While attending Cirque de Couture last Friday evening, which was a charity event to benefit SARPA (Sexual Assault and Recovery Prevention Agency), I had an epiphany.  The show was edgy, creative, spunky and well...different.  One could say it was a bit of a "freak show," but in an awesome way.  I never felt like I fit into one particular group or clique and I guess I can admit I may be somewhat of a "freak show."  Lol.

What I am trying to say is that we all feel at times that we don't "fit in" or that people don't understand us and it's not a bad thing.  What we are trying to do at The Compassion Fashion Project is to be inclusive and open to everyone.  This is a safe place to tell your story, share your art, laugh, cry, shreek, be positive, be negative...it doesn't matter as long as you can be yourself.  The best way to live is to simply FEEL what you FEEL.  Do not be ashamed, do not be afraid and especially do not give a hoot what anyone else thinks of you.  In the end, we are all different and that is what makes life beautiful.
